Education

Educating Our Members, Amplifying Voices That Need to Be Heard

Alongside our social and diplomatic activities, education has always been part of IBCA's work. Since 1953 we have brought members face to face with the people and organisations shaping the conversation about Israel — in the Knesset, in the President's Residence, and at our own speaker events. In recent years that has meant something more specific: giving a platform to the organisations fighting Israel's corner on two fronts that rarely make it into the mainstream conversation — how Israel is portrayed in the international media, and what the next generation, on both sides of the conflict, is actually being taught.

Our aim with these events is simple. There are organisations doing vital, often under-funded work defending Israel's case with facts and research rather than slogans. Most of our members had never heard of them until we put them on a stage. That's the gap we try to fill — not just informing our members, but pointing them toward organisations that deserve their attention and their support.

Recent Examples

Two recent speaker events give a sense of what we mean. In December 2025, IBCA welcomed a speaker from CAMERA (the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis), who talked members through how Israel is misrepresented in the international press — the specific errors, the framing choices, and the pattern behind them — and what CAMERA does to hold outlets to account. Then in February 2026, we hosted a speaker from IMPACT-se (the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education), whose research tracks what's actually being taught in school textbooks across the region, measured against international standards, and who works directly with donors and education ministries to get harmful content changed.

Neither organisation is a household name, and both do the kind of unglamorous, research-heavy work that rarely gets funded by instinct alone — it needs to be seen to be understood. That's exactly the gap events like these are meant to close.

Why This Matters to IBCA

IBCA has spent seven decades building relationships with people willing to listen, to ask questions, and — when the case is made well — to lend their support. Our education events aren't just an interesting morning out. They're part of how we try to make sure organisations doing this essential, under-the-radar work don't do it unnoticed.
